Hurray! I’ve written 1,000 blog posts for this website!

Lots of stuff about my own life and science when I started. That’s transitioned to the blog being mostly about Dungeons and Dragons. D&D stuff is more fun for me to write and less invasive into my personal life, especially after my kids were born and I wanted to protect their privacy.

My last navel-gazing blog post was only a few months ago in January 2026. The post laid out a list of items to complete prior to launching a crowdfunding campaign for getting the Cimmeria Campaign Setting officially published. I’m still working on those pieces and have made some decent progress.

  1. The NaNoWriMo novel continues to slowly chug out. I’ve taken a break from it over the last month or two but should be getting back to it soon.
  2. I’ve been writing a lot of Cimmeria crunchy rules stuff. New Species, new Subclasses, new Backgrounds, new Feats, new Monsters, new Spells, and new Magic Items! All sorts of new things! Those are scheduled to start posting in October (I have a large backlog of weekly posts).
  3. I’ve begun outlining the campaign I want to publish for playing in Cimmeria. The plan is to have the campaign as a companion product to the Cimmeria Campaign Setting book. That way you have something to play in the setting right away.
  4. In the interest of building my reputation before a crowdfunding campaign, I wanted to have a few things published on DriveThruRPG prior to launching the campaign. One of those things would be a Cimmeria Player’s Guide which collects some of the content from #2 in this list. Another thing I want to put together is a short adventure within Cimmeria. I’ve begun outlining that as well.
  5. I’m also continuing my work on having a bunch of Magic: The Gathering cards based on different characters, events, locations, etc. in Cimmeria. That work is going smoothly and the rules text for all the cards should be complete by the end of the year. After that comes flavor text, images, and putting all the pieces together. Maybe I’ll throw together a few custom Commander decks as well.

That’s all I’ve been working on! Along with everything else you’ve seen such as the podcast, RPG reviews, Races of Cimmeria content, and Tabletop Community Spotlight. This wraps up 1,000 posts on GoCorral.com! Now on to the next thousand!

I’m Isaac

Welcome to the GoCorral website! I’m Isaac Shaker and this is a place for me to write about D&D and occasionally other topics. I host a podcast called Setting the Stage that interviews different DMs about their campaigns. I’m currently focused on completing the Cimmeria campaign setting and turning it into a book.

88 – DM & Roleplaying Tips with Balance of Aksio (Jay + Sandra! and 3RPG) Setting the Stage, Campaigns for D&D and Other RPGs

Our guests today are Jay and Sandra from the 3RPG podcast. Their podcast is a talk show, typically with three hosts. Unfortunately the third host Chris was unable to make it.Jay and Sandra are working on a RPG product dubbed The Balance of Aksio. It's a new narrative fantasy TTRPG system with point buy character creation. The world within Balance of Aksio grew out of games that Jay and Sandra have been playing together since high school. Lots of history from important characters over the in-game centuries they have been playing. Balance of Aksio comes with numerous storytelling aids to help with character decision making, generational play, and how to cover long gaps between adventures.Balance of Aksio also introduces a unique idea for running your NPCs. Rather than make all the decisions yourself, Jay and Sandra recommend outsourcing the NPC actions to people you know outside of the campaign. Give those people a profile of the NPC and the decision they are facing. Then let those people decide what the NPC would do without your own biases as a GM entering the equation. Quite a clever way to introduce new developments in your game that even you can't predict! There's a 3RPG Podcast website and the show itself is available on all major podcast platforms.I guested on the 3RPG podcast for episode 61.
