I’ve crossed another accomplishment threshold for the GoCorral Blog! The Races of Cimmeria section is complete!

As the Cimmeria stuff has migrated and expanded here I’ve added other sections. It started as an online repository for information about the Cities of Cimmeria. That was for the players in my campaign to have easy access to extra setting info (that they barely used).

After that came the Characters of Cimmeria to support the Xorian Wars Campaign Log that I originally posted on the Order of the Stick Forums. Readers on the forum could come to the blog if they wanted additional info on a character or place.

Then came the Timeline and the expansion of the Characters section to include Historical NPCs. While the timeline project had started before the campaign log concluded, it kicked into high gear after the end of the campaign log.

Along the way the personal side of my blog got abandoned. I don’t really have a problem with that.

The Races of Cimmeria section was the final piece I had planned for Cimmeria before a different stage of work began.

The work on Races of Cimmeria is completed. The permanent pages for that are already available to look at while the individual blog posts are scheduled to publish from now until October 2026. That includes more RPG reviews as well. BIG backlog of content built up at the moment! I expect to return to posting on Mondays and Fridays at some point soon.

I’ve dreamed of publishing a book of some kind for a long time. I liked the idea of it being a side job as well. My main job produces more concrete good in the world while my side job provides joy to the world (ideally).

The next step for Cimmeria is to format the material I’ve written into something resembling an RPG book for D&D. Along with that formatting I’d like to produce a bunch of additional content for a future crowdfunding campaign. That content includes:

  • At least one class archetype for each of the main classes
  • Additional magic items
  • Additional feats
  • Additional spells
  • More monsters to fight
  • A campaign to go with the setting that will take characters from level 1 to 10
  • The Outer Invasion novel I started for NaNoWriMo (Still need a better title)
  • Custom Magic the Gathering cards for different parts of Cimmeria lore

I’ll get all that done and then plan on having a tidal wave of content for a crowdfunding campaign of some kind. There will be a slow trickle of all that stuff on this blog prior to the deluge.

Absent some other prompting, I’ll be working on that bullet point list for a while.

Welcome to the GoCorral website! I’m Isaac Shaker and this is a place for me to write about D&D and occasionally other topics. I host a podcast called Setting the Stage that interviews different DMs about their campaigns. I’m currently focused on completing the Cimmeria campaign setting and turning it into a book.

83 – Call of Cthulhu's Garden (Hem and The Sprouting) Setting the Stage, Campaigns for D&D and Other RPGs

Hem tells us about their actual play campaign, The Sprouting. Within the world of The Sprouting, Earth's history diverged during the 1800s when an eldritch horror was summoned into our reality. The horror lay in wait for centuries, building up a secret army of plant monsters. In 2020, the plant monsters struck, ruining infrastructure and attacking population centers across the world. One hundred years have passed and our heroes learn that the next stage of the plant apocalypse has begun…We also discussed some of the difficulties and pleasures of actual play podcasts and how the RPG community varies internationally (Hem is in Iceland). If you want to try listening to The Sprouting its available on all major podcast platforms. You can learn more on The Sprouting's website. For other shows produced by Hem check out Blighthouse Studio's website.Hem mentioned The Lucky Die actual play show of theirs several times which used D&D 5e.And the broader network of Fable and Folly has their website too.Check out the Setting the Stage website!Want to be on the show?
