The Aractrashan Jungle contains the Aractrashan Kingdom and all the monsters of the sweltering wilds. Ogres, spiders, and cannibals threaten the four cities of Lordodo, Satronwook, Tetalya, and Yuettencal. Defending civilization in Aractrash is King Staynard, a royal descendant of Hades. His father was assassinated during the Second Alliance War and many fear that Staynard does not have the skills necessary to rule the kingdom as King Ballard did before him.

The Aractrashan Jungle is a thick tropical forest filled with life. Many ogre tribes dwell within the jungle along with monstrous spiders and other fouler creatures. The vast biodiversity of the flora and fauna are enticing to alchemists and artificers across Cimmeria, but the dangers of the jungle kept it uninhabited until the Olympians came to the Magical Lands. Thus when the Conclave races explored Aractrash there were no goblins that had settled the land previously. There were a few cannibal humans that lived deep within the jungle, but they were no different than the other monsters.

Civilization struggled within Aractrash, but help came from the Olympians. Hades’s son, Darnard, started a dynastic line of protectors of the jungle at the newly settled city of Yuettencal. The process continued under his son and grandson, Gollard and Willard. Gollard set off a war with the dark elves that the human settlers won with the assistance of a drow traitor, Medrika. Willard extended the dynasty’s role from protectors to rulers of Aractrash by conquering the other city-states of Lordodo, Satronwook, and Tetalya. The Aractrash Jungle became the Aractrash Kingdom.

The new kingdom is a center of trade within Cimmeria. They export rare plants for medicine, tropical foods, exotic animal components, wine, art, wood, and gold. In return they import staple crops to fill their granaries and slaves to work the gold mines. Aractrashan soldiers guard the jungle roads while wearing the lightweight, strong as steel redwire spidersilk armor. The navy keeps the port at Lordodo secure under the command of Admiral Lucas. The trade routes are under constant threats from the monsters of Aractrash and the goblins of Untalpid.

The current King of Aractrash is Staynard. He took over after his father, King Ballard, was assassinated during the Second Alliance War. Staynard agreed to reverse Ballard’s isolationist policies and join the war, but the hostilities concluded before he could fully mobilize the army. Still in his late teens, Staynard’s courtiers stepped in to assist with rule. Notably Hektor of Lakatia set the tone of foreign policy while Archmage Preta and Queen Mother Traliya control all things domestic. All of Ballard’s old courtiers continue to assist and oppose each other as their desires dictate. Staynard is a sheep among wolves in this game of politics.

Welcome to the GoCorral website! I’m Isaac Shaker and this is a place for me to write about D&D and occasionally other topics. I host a podcast called Setting the Stage that interviews different DMs about their campaigns. I’m currently focused on completing the Cimmeria campaign setting and turning it into a book.

83 – Call of Cthulhu's Garden (Hem and The Sprouting) Setting the Stage, Campaigns for D&D and Other RPGs

Hem tells us about their actual play campaign, The Sprouting. Within the world of The Sprouting, Earth's history diverged during the 1800s when an eldritch horror was summoned into our reality. The horror lay in wait for centuries, building up a secret army of plant monsters. In 2020, the plant monsters struck, ruining infrastructure and attacking population centers across the world. One hundred years have passed and our heroes learn that the next stage of the plant apocalypse has begun…We also discussed some of the difficulties and pleasures of actual play podcasts and how the RPG community varies internationally (Hem is in Iceland). If you want to try listening to The Sprouting its available on all major podcast platforms.
