Cimmerian Timeline Part 54

Previous: Cimmerian Timeline Part 53

King Aeëtes leads Colchis eternally, but he comes under attack by the armies of Hades every solar eclipse. I detailed some of the earlier eclipse attacks, but I’ve been leaving them behind for a while. Here’s the rest of them!

978BCE: A solar eclipse allowed Hades to attack Colchis, but he was rebuffed by King Aeëtes’s newly created stone golems. The magical protectors tore through the undead hordes.

923BCE: A solar eclipse opened the gates to Erebos and Hades sent an army for King Aeëtes’s soul. This time the army was composed of devils and demons. They tore through the golems of the city, but Aeëtes used his magic to enhance the weapons of of the common people of Colchis. Their buffed armaments were able to defeat the hellish army of Hades.

885BCE: A solar eclipse darkened the sky over Colchis and Hades sent an army of devils and undead. King Aeëtes had trained his soldiers further on how to defeat devils using blessed weapons and holy water. Luckily the sanctified weapons were effective against both devils and undead.

857BCE: Hades attacked Colchis under the shadow of a solar eclipse. He brought an unholy combination of devils and machinery to bear on the city. King Aeëtes unleashed the dragon of Colchis to destroy the machines while the trained army dealt with the devils.

831BCE: A solar eclipse over Colchis brought the armies of Hades once more. This time Hades unleashed a gigantic undead corpse made from the combination of thousands of individual zombies and skeletons. King Aeëtes unleashed the full might of his magic against the giant and destroyed it. The thousands of individual undead scattered onto the ground and began moving towards the city, but the standing army took them down.

819BCE: Hades unleashed a new army against Colchis. With thousands of githyanki dying in the Draco-Gith War, Hades had access to a fresh type of corpse. He made psionic githyanki undead and set them against King Aeëtes under the solar eclipse. To defeat this new foe, Aeëtes had created tattoos of protection on his body. Now protected from psionic magic, Aeëtes swiftly slew the returned Astral invaders.

817BCE: Hades sent undead githyanki and dragons along with devils to attack Colchis while an eclipse blotted out the sun. King Aeëtes dealt with the dragons in the sky himself, but the ground army of Colchis was overwhelmed by the other foes. Aeëtes pleaded for aid and was answered by Demeter. She animated the plants in the gardens and fields of Colchis to fight against the invasion. With the help of the animate botany, Colchis was saved.
In recognition of Demeter’s aid, Aeëtes built an enormous magical temple to her in his city.

770BCE: Under a solar eclipse Hades sent a new monster to attack King Aeëtes. The new maruts were designed specifically to kill Aeëtes. The armored creatures were too strong for the soldiers of Colchis and the plants. Aeëtes baited Hades’s army into Colchis Castle. Within the warded castle walls Aeëtes separated the maruts and took them out one by one.

765BCE: King Aeëtes made a pact with Prometheus for aid against Hades. In exchange for a future favor from Aeëtes, Prometheus made a new type of fairy, washernias, to serve the Colchian king. Hades attacked with maruts under a solar eclipse soon afterward. Their lawful power was countered by the chaotic magic of the fairies. Without their magical protections the maruts were quickly dispatched by the common soldiers of Colchis.

763BCE: A solar eclipse allowed Hades to assault Colchis once more. The god of the Underworld wasn’t counting on King Aeëtes using reanimated maruts for defense. Within a single decade, Aeëtes had thwarted three attacks by Hades and turned the god’s greatest weapon against him. From this point on, Hades continued to send attacks under every solar eclipse, but more as a formality. Aeëtes was never again threatened.

711BCE: A solar eclipse let the armies of Hades attack Colchis. Aeëtes led the defense and defeated the Underworld army once again.

702BCE: A solar eclipse let the armies of Hades attack Colchis. Aeëtes led the defense and defeated the Underworld army once again.

648BCE: A solar eclipse let the armies of Hades attack Colchis. Aeëtes led the defense and defeated the Underworld army once again.

603BCE: A solar eclipse let the armies of Hades attack Colchis. Aeëtes led the defense and defeated the Underworld army once again.

556BCE: A solar eclipse let the armies of Hades attack Colchis. Aeëtes led the defense and defeated the Underworld army once again.

547BCE: A solar eclipse let the armies of Hades attack Colchis. Aeëtes led the defense and defeated the Underworld army once again.

493BCE: A solar eclipse let the armies of Hades attack Colchis. Aeëtes led the defense and defeated the Underworld army once again.
