Devanane

Devanane was a high level Enforcer for the dragovinian regime. He hunted rebels and dissidents within the Xorian Empire and brought them to justice or tortured them for more information. Devanane was a true believer in Dragoviniysm. He studied dragons and emulated their breath weapons with his magical fighting style. A childhood friend of Darudanano‘s as well, Devanane bullied Tagenadi from a young age. This animosity continued into adulthood. Devanane’s detestable work as an Enforcer led to his death at the hands of the Alliance Exiles.

Devanane’s parents were close friends of Tagenadi’s. Unfortunately, they died during the Amazon revolt of 418BCE. Devanane was adopted by Tagenadi’s parents and brought into their household as a brother. He was already good friends with Darudanano, but became a harsh bully towards Daru’s brother and sister, Tagenadi and Danaranena.

When Devanane and Darudanano came of age they joined the Xorian military. Devanane absolutely reveled in his ability to rape and pillage the women and homes of those the Xorian army defeated. After a few years, Tagenadi joined their army unit. With the success of their deployments, soon Daru and Devanane were slated to be dragovinianized. They came home changed, excessively cruel to their mortal family members. Tagenadi realized his error and arranged for his parents and sister to be taken out of the country. Unfortunately, the plan failed. Tagu and his family were captured. Daru and Deva smirked at Tagu’s weakness as he was taken off to his sentencing.

Devanane and Darudanano had caught the eye of King Jevaninada II. He promoted them to be a lead Enforcer and his personal bodyguard respectively. Devanane used his Enforcer position to torture Tagenadi. He told Stanton to bewitch Tagenadi into killing his own parents. The people who had taken Devanane in when he had nothing were slain on his orders by their own son. Devanane laughed and went off to enjoy his life of rebel hunting and killing while Tagenadi was cast aside into a forgotten work camp.

Devanane maintained his position as a lead Enforcer for Jevaninada. He and Stanton organized the torture of Amalius that molded him into a spy on the Alliance Council. He personally punished Amalius by trapping his soul when the double agent refused to cooperate. Devanane joined the other high-ranking Xorians that defended the Rock of Prometheus when it was discovered by the Alliance.

After Amalius released Invernix and Sartoria from the Red Orb of Dragonkind, Devanane was sent to recruit them for the Dragoviniysm pantheon. Amalgami discovered this and told the Exiles of Devanane’s plans. Amalgami feared that the red dragons joining Xoria would be too much power on one side of the conflict. The Exiles ambushed Devanane. Amalius dominated him and Torin killed him.

Welcome to the GoCorral website! I’m Isaac Shaker and this is a place for me to write about D&D and occasionally other topics. I host a podcast called Setting the Stage that interviews different DMs about their campaigns. I’m currently focused on completing the Cimmeria campaign setting and turning it into a book.

One hundred years have passed and our heroes learn that the next stage of the plant apocalypse has begun…We also discussed some of the difficulties and pleasures of actual play podcasts and how the RPG community varies internationally (Hem is in Iceland). If you want to try listening to The Sprouting its available on all major podcast platforms.
