Degusharla was the Lord of Petar, commander of Xoria’s ranged forces, an older friend/mentor to King Jevaninada II, and a powerful combatant in his own right. He was the Lord Consort of the Lady of Petar until her death. He took over her position during King Jevaninada II’s power transition. Degusharla became a dragovinian and served in Jevaninada’s court for many years before perishing at the Battle of Phoenix.

Degusharla was born a member of one of the old Senatorial families of Nox. His gens was still an influential family in Xorian politics, having weathered many storms. Degusharla’s parents raised him with the skills of a political survivor. They adapted when Queen Anajakaze established her gynocracy. Degusharla’s mother became the family’s matriarch and Degusharla had a marriage arranged with a powerful lady of Petar, Sinatrofor.

Degusharla assisted Sinatrofor in her political maneuvering. Together they managed to secure her the Ladyship of Petar. Degusharla ruled beside her over the city and surrounding lands. The prominent people and the masses grew to see the couple as an inseparable duo. Degusharla moved easily in the political world having personally exempted himself from the Amazon’s oppressive attitude towards men.

This freedom proved useful when Sinatrofor died. She contracted an unknown illness of magical origin. Degusharla hired dozens of doctors, sages, clerics, and apothecaries but none were able to treat Sinatrofor. The sages were at least able to identify the area the disease had come from, Bigby’s Forest. Sinatrofor passed and Degusharla looked at the forest with contempt. The masculine revolt within the forest was surely responsible for killing his wife and he would have his vengeance. Degusharla’s life goals changed. His one obsession was personally eliminating the Rebels of Bigby’s Forest. He trained to master the bow and military tactics so he could personally lead a troop to eradicate the Rebels using the same methods as their elven protectors.

King Jevaninada II’s ascension gave Degusharla his chance for revenge. He became the official Lord of Petar and was gifted dragovinian status. Furthermore, Jevaninada granted Degusharla a position in the military as general of the archer corps. Degusharla led assaults into Bigby’s Forest but he was driven out again and again. Seeing that a more subtle hand was needed, Degusharla formed the enforcers to root out Rebel activity wherever it could be found. Gregor, Sivirdm, Stanton, and Wu Lang Li were the greatest of these enforcers.

When the Second Alliance War started Degusharla was drawn back to the archer corps. He abandoned the enforcer project to lead his soldiers against the King’s enemies. Degusharla participated in the Battle of Phoenix, but perished during the final assault.

76 – Flying Island Worlds (Alan and Fractus) Setting the Stage, Campaigns for D&D and Other RPGs

Alan tells us about his Daggerheart campaign setting, Fractus, that is launching on Kickstarter soon. Fractus was a normal planet until it exploded and stopped halfway through. Now bunches of asteroids rotate a swirling magical maelstorm at the center of the planet. The people of Fractus survive on the asteroids which are large enough to support life. The land is now separated by air rather than oceans, resulting in a different path for technology along the lines of flight rather than sea travel.Fractus is available on Kickstarter at: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/icv1/fractus-the-broken-worldAlan also has a big catalog of TTRPG products he's produced in the past that you can check out on DriveThruRPG: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/en/publisher/17830/alan-tuckerIn addition to his TTRPG writing, Alan has written a few novels that you can find links to on his website: http://www.alantucker.net/ For the latest updates on what Alan's doing you can follow him on Bluesky: https://bsky.app/profile/tuckerauthor.bsky.socialOur website: https://gocorral.com/stsWant to be on the show?
