Demeter is the daughter of Cronos and Rhea. She is the Olympian of the soil. She makes all things grow in the spring and summer, but she gets depressed when her daughter Persephone goes to Hades. During Demeter’s sadness few plants grow. The months get harder and become winter. When Persephone is allowed to come back Demeter makes things grow again. Due to her power over food and the cycle of life, Demeter is worshipped throughout Cimmeria.

Demeter has two sacred places in Cimmeria, Colchis and Demeter’s Garden. Colchis became her sacred city out of spite. Hades hated the King of Colchis, Aeëtes, and Demeter hated Hades due to the rape of Persephone. To hurt Hades, Demeter provided aid to King Aeëtes and he in turn dedicated an enormous temple to Demeter. Demeter’s Garden came about as a sacred place simply through Demeter spending most of her time there. She fostered the plants there and turned them into conscious entities. Demeter’s Garden is a dangerous place for mortals, but full of strange sentient plant creatures. The garden is the resting place of Eathirilu and the Copper Dragon Orb.
