I wrote a little song that’s sung to the tune of “Do-Re-Mi” by Rodgers and Hammerstein. It’s about how to make a character in Hackmaster (sort of).

Let’s start at the very beginning
A very good place to start
In reading you begin with A-B-C
In Hackmaster you begin with a level one PC
First roll 3d6 to see your stats to be
Strength-Int-Wis, Strength-Int-Wis
Strength-Int-Wis-Dex-Con-Looks-Cha
Let’s see if I can make it easy
Strength, Muscles, and a bonus to damage
Int, a bonus to attack
Wis, a bonus to defense
Dex, a bit of everything
Con, only gives HP
Looks, for Elves not stinky Dwarves
Cha, will give you bonus honor
That will bring us back to Strength
Strength-Int-Wis-Dex-Con-Looks-Cha-Strength
Con-Strength!
Now everyone, Strength-Int-Wis-Dex-Con and so on
are only the tools we use to build a PC
Once you have these stats on your sheet
you can improve your character by adding building points
Like this
Con-Strength-Looks-Dex-Wis-Strength-Int
Can you do that?
Con-Strength-Looks-Dex-Wis-Strength-Int
Con-Strength-Looks-Cha-Strength-Int-Strength
Con-Strength-Looks-Cha-Strength-Int-Strength
Now, put it all together
Con-Strength-Looks-Dex-Wis-Strength-Int,
Con-Strength-Looks-Cha-Strength-Int-Strength
Good!
You must be making a fighter
So we put in weapon specializations
One aspect for every five points
Like this
First attack and then comes damage
Then defense and speed is last
Together!
First attack and then comes damage
Then defense and speed is last
Strength, Muscles, and a bonus to damage
Int, a bonus to attack
Wis, a bonus to defense
Dex, a bit of everything
Con, only gives HP
Looks, for Elves not stinky Dwarves
Cha, will give you bonus honor
That will bring us back to Strength
Strength-Int-Wis-Dex-Con-Looks-Cha-Strength
Strength-Cha-Looks-Con-Dex-Wis-Int
Strength-Wis-Wis
Wis-Con-Con
Int-Dex-Dex
Looks-Cha-Cha
First attack and then comes damage
Then defense and speed is last
Strength, Muscles, and a bonus to damage
Int, a bonus to attack
Wis, a bonus to defense
Dex, a bit of everything
Con, only gives HP
Looks, for Elves not stinky Dwarves
Cha, will give you bonus honor
That will bring us back to Strength-Con-Strength

Sung to the lyrics of “Do-Re-Mi” from the Sound of Music
Do=Strength Re=Int Mi=Wis Fa=Dex So=Con La=Looks Ti=Cha

Welcome to the GoCorral website! I’m Isaac Shaker and this is a place for me to write about D&D and occasionally other topics. I host a podcast called Setting the Stage that interviews different DMs about their campaigns. I’m currently focused on completing the Cimmeria campaign setting and turning it into a book.

87 – Adapted Azeroth D&D (Flare and Akridon) Setting the Stage, Campaigns for D&D and Other RPGs

Flare talks with us about his campaign world, Akridon. Three continents dominate the world, Tyros for humanoid races and Dusklands for bestial races. The third continent is known as the Scourge, having being destroyed in a cataclysmic war centuries ago. The world draws a lot of inspiration from the World of Warcraft setup with duality featuring in the continents, the racial appearance, and the gods of the world. And just like in WoW, the two sides often need to team up against larger threats that appear.Flare has a Google Doc with more information about Akridon if you're interested!Vote in the CRIT Awards!
