982BCE: King Cogard elected to build a new capital for his kingdom at a site he had seen while traveling. He and most of the dwarves of Dalleer left, heading north by northwest. Lord Shaelin of the Dwarven Regency Council was left behind to rule Dalleer.

974BCE: To preserve his new capital, King Cogard surrendered to the dragons. Lord Shaelin had sworn an oath to resist the dragons, but he gritted his teeth and followed his king’s orders. The surrender proved fruitful and the bulk of construction on Jord was completed. Cogard invited dwarves from all across Cimmeria to come to a ceremony declaring the new capital as the center of his kingdom.

971BCE: Queen Pristanon gave birth to quadruplets, all sons, named Coldruin, Steffern, Yentbern, and Albirnon.

961BCE: King Cogard sent his four sons to be raised by different dwarven lords. Coldruin to the Terror Mountains, Steffern to the Underdark, and Yentbern to Dalleer. Albirnon went to the Dominarie Mountains to be raised in Queen Shortrastor’s court. In exchange, Queen Shortrastor sent her daughter, Alfeita, to be raised by King Cogard.

905BCE: Lord Shaelin completed his long guardianship over Prince Yentbern. During the prince’s time in Dalleer the city had grown into an industrious multi-racial city. Shaelin’s teachings gave Yentbern a healthy respect for hardwork and the other races of Cimmeria.
Lord Shaelin sent a request with Prince Yentbern to King Cogard. With the guardianship concluded, Lord Shaelin wished to be released from his oath of fealty to King Cogard. Cogard granted the request and allowed Shaelin to name his successor. Shaelin passed over his own son  and gave the leadership of Dalleer to Bjorn, a respectable and qualified friend of Shaelin’s.

904BCE: With his vow to King Cogard fulfilled, Shaelin was free to fulfill his oath to oppose the dragons of Cimmeria. He sent out a clandestine call for all like-minded people to join him in Dalleer for an attack on the dragons in two years time.

902BCE: Lord Shaelin took his gathered warband and attacked Kenderax in Fangaroot. Shaelin led his army admirably. They penetrated the city and Shaelin himself slew the dragon. Unfortunately, the kobolds were too numerous. They drove the army out and Shaelin’s body was left behind, never to be recovered.

Welcome to the GoCorral website! I’m Isaac Shaker and this is a place for me to write about D&D and occasionally other topics. I host a podcast called Setting the Stage that interviews different DMs about their campaigns. I’m currently focused on completing the Cimmeria campaign setting and turning it into a book.

84 – Horseback Riding D&D Camp (Michael and SaddleSnaps) Setting the Stage, Campaigns for D&D and Other RPGs

Michael tells us about a D&D horseback riding experience at SaddleSnaps! The Chicago-based stable hosted a weekend camping, horseback riding, and D&D event. About 50 players came from across the country for this new experience. During the event, the players were split up into three groups. Each of the groups engaged in the "Exploration" and "Social Interaction" pillars of RPGs as a LARP. They used horses to go out on rides around the area to find clues to a developing mystery. After returning to their base camp they'd set up around tables for the D&D "Combat" pillar. Michael was the main DM of the adventure along with lots of support DMs and NPC actors helping him out.SaddleSnaps is planning to do more rides like this in the future, both single day rides as well as full weekend campouts like this first one. There are evening rides every Thursday for the rest of July 2026 with more to come in future months. You can check out everything about SaddleSnaps on their website.Michael has his own website for his RPG resources called Paragon Provisions that you can check out as well.Michael also runs his own Discord server that you connect with him on if you'd like to keep up with all the cool D&D stuff he's doing.Check out the Setting the Stage website!Want to be on the show?
