Hobgoblin Cities

These cities are the remaining bastions of goblin civilization that was nearly eradicated by the Olympians arrival in the Goblin War.

Fumatroy – Fumatroy is a powerful goblin city on the Pacific Coast. The hobgoblin General Danik-Clanort rules from Searise Castle. Fumatroy is supplied by a unique staple crop, seaweed, that is exported across the land. The city has a highly militaristic culture that has fostered an number of active dueling schools. People come from across Cimmeria to learn exotic techniques in Fumatroy. At the center of the city is the All-Temple devoted to the entirety of the animalistic pantheon of the goblins. The temple has a shapeshifting statue that eats sacrifices brought by worshippers.

Giura – Giura sits next to the Undergreen, a massive piece of magical glass covering an exacted cavern. The Undergreen formed in the aftermath of a great battle between the Phoenix and Sadroston. The goblins of Giura use the excavated cavern as a greenhouse to grow all sorts of plants for consumption and for alchemical uses. To protect their valuable city the goblins and hobgoblins of Giura grow an herb used to control the local bugbear population. Additionally those who stand on the Undergreen must tell the truth. Giura uses this magic to question criminals and protect their assets from thieves.

Niloctus – Niloctus is a traditionalist goblin city. Their devotion to the animal pantheon of the goblins is strong and manifests with a large zoo containing examples of each of the holy animals. The city itself is built in the trees outside of Amapsau Marsh. Niloctus exports darkwood, special materials from the Amapsau Marsh, and silver apples grown from a secret orchard.

Tomak’nax – The twin cities of Tomak’nax lie on the shores of Lake Astacol. They were once united, but a divine earthquake during the Goblin War split the city in two. The cities maintain their connection through an enormous cable ferry known as the Cableway. A pair of queens rule the city’s halves. Tomak’nax is self sufficient, but is also the trading stop for caravans going between Cimmeria and the Hobgoblin Lands.

Trung Town – Trung Town was the capital of the Hobgoblin Lands under the leadership of Kruk-Ma-Kali. After his death the city entered a steep decline. Trung Town is now a sparsely populated collection of ruins nominally ruled by Graz-Toshdrun. In reality a group of cannibalistic bugbears hold an iron grip on the city. Interestingly, Trung Town is also the only producer of ostrich meat and eggs in the known world.

Tusathapas – Tusathapas is at a magical nexus point where three rivers meet. This boost spells cast within the area and led to the city becoming a magickocracy ruled by the strongest mage. The current Grand Magus is Bluckie the goblin. Tusathapas’s main industry is unsurprisingly magic. They export magical and alchemical items, but their most exotic export is mutated animals. Many of the stranger hybrid creatures known in Cimmeria such as the owlbear come originally from the labs of Tusathapas.

Untalpid – Untalpid is a city dominated by merchants. The merchants engage in ruthless competition to control the mountain trade route with India. Untalpid has a Flower Forest nearby which produces pollen used for flour. The giant flowers also support domesticated giant ants and giant bees. The insects are used as beasts of burden and to produce other trade goods (honey, chitin, etc). Untalpid is currently ruled by a corrupt barghest, Skortwist the Bandit.

Yuggnod – Yuggnod is a trading port connecting Cimmeria, the Hobgoblin Lands, and India. Until recently it was a goblin cultural center known for producing art of all kinds. The artisan’s quarter of Yuggnod was devastated by a barghest attack eighteen years ago. The barghests’ unholy destruction turned the denizens of the artisan’s quarter into undead monsters. Now the barghests rule the city and the ruined neighborhood is walled off and referred to as the Locked Quarter.
