Atreides

Atreides was a dwarf of common origins who almost became a legend when he recovered the Fierce Axe of Dwarvish Lords. He traveled with Terroc‘s adventuring band for a time before joining Princess Tarigananta‘s side in the First Alliance War. During the war Atreides had a vision that led him to the Fierce Axe. He wielded it in battle against the Xorians, but unfortunately perished at the hands of the Rages. The Axe spent decades in human hands before the dwarves were able to recover it.

Atreides was born to a dwarven smith couple that lived in Dalleer. He’d planned to take over their smithy when the time came. After completing his apprenticeship, Atreides left on his journeyman quest. He learned to defend himself with axe and shield. Atreides grew to love fighting. He especially loved mixing in offensive moves with his shield, bashing his enemies in the body with his rampart before slamming them in the face with his ax. Merchant caravans came to know Atreides as a reliable defender if they came under attack.

Atreides joined up with Terroc’s adventuring party. Alongside the wizard Atreides reclaimed the Chains of Inferno for Hephaestus. When Terroc retired Atreides continued traveling with Amalgami and Salzar. He entered the service of Princess Tarigananata in her bid to reclaim the Xorian throne during the First Alliance War. Atreides protected the princess from the Xorian Rages who attempted to assassinate her.

Atreides recovered the Fierce Axe of Dwarvish Lords on the eve of a battle during the First Alliance War. He was led by visions to a giant’s cave. He slew the giant and claimed the Fierce Axe from his enemy’s treasure trove. He used the Axe to oppose the Xorians and the Rages. Unfortunately Atreides died while fighting the Rage, Grave, and the Fierce Axe was claimed by the Xorians. His body was lost. The dwarven nations might’ve united behind Atreides, but they were forced to wait four decades before the Axe was reclaimed once again during the Battle of Phoenix.

I’m Isaac

Welcome to the GoCorral website! I’m Isaac Shaker and this is a place for me to write about D&D and occasionally other topics. I host a podcast called Setting the Stage that interviews different DMs about their campaigns. I’m currently focused on completing the Cimmeria campaign setting and turning it into a book.

79 – Dragon Age Degenerates (Zoe from Degenerates with Dice) Setting the Stage, Campaigns for D&D and Other RPGs

Zoe tells us about her campaign in the world of Thedas from the Dragon Age video games. The campaign is an actual play on the Degenerates with Dice YouTube channel. Zoe uses the Dragon Age TTRPG published by Green Ronin. In the campaign, a pair of noble twins are cut out of their family's inheritance. They must go on adventure to make things right and earn their birthright. Lots of fun and definitely more of a beer and pretzels vibe to the table. If you want to watch the Degenerates with Dice show they are live every Monday night on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@degenerateswithdiceOr on Twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/degenerateswithdiceThe first episode of Dragon Age: Resurrection: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RJCn4g0oafMTake a look at Green Ronin's Dragon Age TTRPG: https://greenroninstore.com/collections/dragon-age-rpgOur website: https://gocorral.com/stsWant to be on the show?
