Frost was born with the name, Zikaas, during the rise of Medrika within Drow society. Frost’s family had a difficult life under Croshan’s leadership so they happily supported Medrika in her quest for the queenship. Medrika gave them a good government position in the territories beneath Jeutontic after she gained the throne.

Zikaas’s fortune changed when Queen Anajakaze assumed the regency of Xoria. Anajakaze ordered the vampiric corpse of Havoc to take over Jeutontic. He vampirized many people within the city. The viscous vampire used his spawn to raid the Underdark, destroying many of the previously aggressive communities that lived beneath. Slaves were taken on these raids, one of them being Zikaas. She never saw her parents again and her assumption was they were slain in the same raid that captured her.

Zikaas’s masters forced her to work in a merchant’s aerial stables. Zikaas proved quite capable of taking care of the aerials, riding them, and administering the stable in general. Her exemplary work earned her special privileges until she was hardly a slave at all. As her expertise grew the Jeutontic duchess purchased her to run the city stables. Zikaas continued to excel as her responsibilities multiplied. Her human masters became accustomed to her and gave Zikaas a nickname, Frost, due to the color of her hair.

Frost’s life changed once again when a new royal came to the throne of Xoria. King Jevaninada II needed a cavalry leader he could trust to be loyal to him and not to his mother. An elevated slave was perfect. Jevaninada freed Frost and gave her the position she’d earned through her sweat, Cavalry General of Xoria. Frost took the job after seeing the power of dragovinians. She saw a path to true freedom and power by becoming a dragovinian. She bided her time and served the king until he granted Frost her wish. Unfortunately, the gift came with drawbacks. Frost finally had the strength to do anything she wished, but she was beholden to King Jevaninada’s commands. There was no freedom, only a complete slavery like Frost had never known before.

Frost served King Jevaninada as a loyal servant. She obeyed his orders and extended Xorian power eastward. Every second she longed for a way to escape, but the only path out was Jevaninada’s death which she couldn’t orchestrate due to his absolute control over her. Frost led the Xorian aerial cavalry during the Second Alliance War. She fought at the Battle of Phoenix along with the other generals of Xoria. Unfortunately she perished during the fighting due to the efforts of Kig, Amalius, and Shez. Frost’s soul was destroyed without ever knowing vengeance on King Jevaninada and the other Xorians who had wronged her.

76 – Flying Island Worlds (Alan and Fractus) Setting the Stage, Campaigns for D&D and Other RPGs

Alan tells us about his Daggerheart campaign setting, Fractus, that is launching on Kickstarter soon. Fractus was a normal planet until it exploded and stopped halfway through. Now bunches of asteroids rotate a swirling magical maelstorm at the center of the planet. The people of Fractus survive on the asteroids which are large enough to support life. The land is now separated by air rather than oceans, resulting in a different path for technology along the lines of flight rather than sea travel.Fractus is available on Kickstarter at: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/icv1/fractus-the-broken-worldAlan also has a big catalog of TTRPG products he's produced in the past that you can check out on DriveThruRPG: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/en/publisher/17830/alan-tuckerIn addition to his TTRPG writing, Alan has written a few novels that you can find links to on his website: http://www.alantucker.net/ For the latest updates on what Alan's doing you can follow him on Bluesky: https://bsky.app/profile/tuckerauthor.bsky.socialOur website: https://gocorral.com/stsWant to be on the show?
