Cleric Subclass: Forge Domain

The Forge Domain brings the powers of creation and fire into the hands of mortals. Clerics of this domain are typically excellent smiths, but other types of physical crafting are common as well.

The god of the forge is Hephaestus. His volcanic workshop produced many of the powerful artifacts used by mortal heroes. When he was born, Hephaestus was terribly ugly. His mother, Hera, was disgusted with him and shoved him off of Mount Olympus. He landed in Lemnos, breaking one of his legs. As he grew, his limp remained. Thus, Hephaestus is the god of the forge, fire, and disabilities.

Forge Domain Spells
Level 3: Your connection to this divine domain ensures you always have certain spells ready. When you reach a Cleric level specified in the Forge Domain Spells table, you thereafter always have the listed spells prepared.

Cleric LevelSpells
3Burning Hands, Cloud of Daggers, Flame Blade, Mage Armor
5Conjure Barrage, Elemental Weapon
7Conjure Minor Elementals, Fabricate
9Animate Objects, Creation

Master of Arms
Level 3:
You gain proficiency with Smith’s Tools. Your training with weapons allows you to use the mastery properties of one kind of Simple or Martial weapon of your choice if you are proficient with it. Whenever you finish a Long Rest, you can practice weapon drills and change that weapon choice.

Perfected Armaments
Level 3:
You know just the right thing to improve weapons and armor. You always have the Magic Weapon and Shield of Faith spells prepared. As a Magic action, you present your Holy Symbol and expend a use of your Channel Divinity to cast Magic Weapon or Shield of Faith without expending a spell slot. When you cast a spell in this way it is cast as if you used your highest level spell slot. Shield of Faith doesn’t require Concentration if you cast it this way.

Forged in Flame
Level 6:
You gain Resistance to Fire damage, and when you cast a spell that deals Fire damage, you can add your Wisdom modifier to one damage roll of that spell.

Smith Incarnate
Level 17:
You can call on the power of the Forge Domain to temporarily become a living metal statue of yourself. As a Magic action, you raise your holy symbol above your head and expend a use of your Channel Divinity. An ephemeral hammer appears in your hand and as you swing it down you are transformed into a shining creation of the Master Smith for 1 minute. While transformed you gain immunity to Fire damage, Resistance to Bludgeoning, Piercing, and Smashing damage, and an aura of heat radiates in a 15-foot Emanation that originates from you. You ignore Resistance to Fire damage and treat Immunity to Fire damage as Resistance to Fire damage for creatures within the aura. At the end of the duration, you may expend a use of your Channel Divinity to continue the transformation for 1 more minute (no action required). Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a Long Rest.
