Origenes

Origenes is a prominent figure in Dalleer politics and briefly joined the Alliance Exiles on their adventures. He had a plethora of skills that came in handy in various situations. Talented at chariot riding, sneaking into places he shouldn’t be, magic, and dual-wielding daggers, he served as a fixer for Terolio, allowing the politician to become Minister for the Björn. After Terolio’s assassination and the Björn’s return to insanity, Origenes stepped in to become Minister of Dalleer.

Origenes started his professional life as a chariot driver in the Dalleer military. After his tour of duty he became a chariot racer at Tremble’s Race Course. Origenes rose to fame as one of the best racers in not just Dalleer but all of Cimmeria. He took advantage of his success and ran afoul of the law and criminal gangs in a few places. At this time Terolio approached Origenes and asked to work with him to gain political power. Origenes endorsed Terolio for office and in exchange Terolio used the position he gained to end investigations into some of Origenes’s more unsavory activities.

Origenes’s physical skills made him Terolio’s problem solver. He already knew how to knife fight and throw daggers accurately from his rougher days, but magic entered Origenes’s repertoire as well. He spied on other merchants and politicians for his political patron. As their relationships became more entangled, violence mixed into the objectives of Origenes’s missions. Before Terolio’s political enemies were outmaneuvered. Now Origenes paid them a visit and they simply disappeared. In exchange, Origenes became more involved in the political decisions that Terolio was making in his increasingly elevated position as Minister of Dalleer.

The Björn senses returned during the Second Alliance War and he stepped in to take control of Dalleer. Terolio was assassinated at this time, but his apprentice became a valuable asset for the Björn. He assigned Origenes to support the Alliance Exiles. Unfortunately, Origenes’s skill set was better suited to political intrigue than madcap fights between demigods. He died during combat with a servant of Duke Jingo‘s in Nomingburg. There were sufficient funds for resurrection, but the experience turned him off to the adventuring life.

After his stint with the party Origenes returned to Dalleer. Terolio was dead and gone, but the Björn now ruled personally. Soon afterward though, the tyrant’s sanity left him once before. A power struggle ensued for the Minister position. Origenes came out on top due to his own skills and his connections forged through years of work with Terolio. Now at the peak of his political career, Origenes enriched himself while also working to better the lives of those affected by the Second Alliance War.

Welcome to the GoCorral website! I’m Isaac Shaker and this is a place for me to write about D&D and occasionally other topics. I host a podcast called Setting the Stage that interviews different DMs about their campaigns. I’m currently focused on completing the Cimmeria campaign setting and turning it into a book.

87 – Adapted Azeroth D&D (Flare and Akridon) Setting the Stage, Campaigns for D&D and Other RPGs

Flare talks with us about his campaign world, Akridon. Three continents dominate the world, Tyros for humanoid races and Dusklands for bestial races. The third continent is known as the Scourge, having being destroyed in a cataclysmic war centuries ago. The world draws a lot of inspiration from the World of Warcraft setup with duality featuring in the continents, the racial appearance, and the gods of the world. And just like in WoW, the two sides often need to team up against larger threats that appear.Flare has a Google Doc with more information about Akridon if you're interested!Vote in the CRIT Awards!
