You thought the Cimmerian Timeline posts were done! They’re back with a vengeance! My next campaign for Cimmeria is a time travel inspired one. I have events going as far back as desired for time travel, but going forward in time might be fun too! Thus I’ve written some future history for Cimmeria as a fourth dimensional sandbox for my players to mess around in. This first post just focuses on the events described in the two epilogue posts of the Xorian Wars Campaign Log.
396BCE: The siege wall was completed in June. The Alliance acted desperately in their attempts to circumvent the siege, but failed before an assault occurred. Phoenix was sacked. The war continued at a rapid pace resulting in the destruction of not only Phoenix, but Greshendale, Bradel Fields, and Nox.
Wishing an end to the war a duel was arranged to decide Cimmeria’s fate. The Xorians lost the duel. At the fight’s end, Eathirilu released the power of Pan contained within the Touch of Nature. This purified all vampires and dragovinians descended from Blendegad, returning them to their mortal forms.
395BCE: Over the next month riots consumed the Xorian Empire. Rioters stormed the estates and homes of those who were previously dragovinians. The upper class population was gutted along with any “dragovinian sympathizers” who had cooperated with dragovinian brutality for their own benefit during the regime. Tarigananata stepped in as Queen of Xoria to hold Nox, Petar, and Cecilia together, but the other city-states welcomed their freedom.
Thousands of refugees existed in Eastern Cimmeria, many of them previous soldiers. To feed themselves, many of these people became bandits. Trade between cities reduced under bandit raids and the city states of Eastern Cimmeria became more insular and self-sufficient. Hektor and Amalius did what they could with the forces of the Alliance and Aractrash to alleviate the public’s suffering.
The Alliance found itself with the responsibility of protecting a slew of artifacts that the Xorian Kingdom had previously stockpiled. King Mero III arranged the construction of a vault in Mars’ Oasis to house the artifacts as well as the heads of the dragon hegemons that had been released during the final destructive months of the war.
Danar and Amalius founded the colony of Mo’nyoq on the south shore of the Aral Sea. Danar taught his fighting techniques there along with Junai, Gradorian, and Talon. The school grew to become the Battlemind Academy over time.
394BCE: Hektor focused his energy on confronting Barakah. He collaborated with his friends, Torin, Tagenadi, and Danar to find and kill the possessed giant. Their combined divination tracked down Barakah. Hektor teleported the team to his location and battle ensued. Barakah killed Tagenadi and Torin, but died by Danar’s hand. Amalius showed up during the fight and siphoned off a portion of Barakah’s elder power. Fortunately, Zelus was freed from the chasm of Barakah’s stomach.
Tagenadi’s underworld time was split in half. He’d broken his deal with Hades and the God of Death would punish him for that, but Tagenadi had also saved Zeus and been promised a place on Olympus after he died. Tagenadi spent half his time in Tartarus being tortured and the other half on Olympus in semi-eternal bliss.
Zelus brought Tagenadi back to life, but he could only bring Tagenadi back from his reward half. Tagenadi would be transported to Tartarus for half of every year for the rest of his life. There, Hades’s servants tortured him with fire and knives. Tagenadi spent his alive half as an honored member of Fauxmalius’s household. He became the godfather for Amalius’s natural son, Amalganus, and helped raise the boy.
393BCE: Hektor hunted Divine Amalius and laid traps for the angelic psion. Hektor predicted that Divine Amalius would attack Queen Tarigananata as she possessed a divine piece of Ammutseba just like Barakah did. Hektor and Danar protected Tarigananata during Divine Amalius’s attack, but failed to save her. They did succeed in driving off Divine Amalius before he could absorb her power.
Hektor and Danar brought Tarigananata’s body to the artifact vault in Mars’ Oasis for safekeeping, but Hektor was concerned that Ammutseba’s presence would corrupt the artifacts stored there. Hektor contacted the immortal and powerful Sherlock the Warlock for a solution. Sherlock agreed to take Tarigananata’s body to keep it separate from the other items in the vault.
392BCE: Gregor became the true king of the Orc Lands. Euphonia/Gorwinua anonymously published the Cimmeriad, an epic poem that detailed the events of the First and Second Xorian Wars. Gorwinua died.
391BCE: The Dwarves concluded their purge of the Underdark beneath Xoria that had been infested with wights.
Gradorian and Junai had twins named Jakin and Anna.
